When I read this book, we were moored in Vero Beach. Mists of Avalon is very accessible reading. From what I understand, the book is well researched and includes all of the old stories along with the radical new perspective. Until I had read this book, I had little interest in the Knights of the Round Table. When I had finished this impressive novel, I suddenly noticed a whole section in the bookstore and I actually recognized the names and places on the covers. (I'm not saying I'm converted and ready to buy these books.) It was like recognizing words in a foreign language! Not only does Bradley give us a fresh vision of a legendary saga, she provides a strong understanding of the Druid religion and the role Christianity played in it's demise. This time the story is told by the women of those fabled days. The Mists of Avalon takes us back to the days of King Arthur and his Camelot cronies.
